LazarusVault Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 27, 2026
1. Introduction
LazarusVault ("LazarusVault," "we," "us," or "our") operates lazarusvault.com (the "Service"), which allows users to store confidential files and instructions and configure automated distribution of that content to designated recipients upon the occurrence of user-defined trigger events (e.g., failure to respond to periodic check-in emails). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and the choices you have.
By creating an account or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account data: name, email address, password (stored as a salted hash, never in plaintext), billing address.
- Vault content: files, documents, and text instructions you upload for storage and conditional distribution.
- Recipient data: names, email addresses, and any notes you provide about designated recipients of your distributions.
- Payment information: processed by our third-party payment processor (see Section 6); we do not store full credit card numbers on our own servers.
- Communications: support tickets, emails, or messages you send us.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and access timestamps (server logs).
- Check-in / "proof of life" response timestamps used to evaluate your configured trigger conditions.
- Cookies and similar technologies for session management and security (see Section 8).
2.3 Information We Do Not Want
Please do not upload information subject to special legal handling requirements you have not independently verified we can meet (e.g., regulated health records, information you are not legally permitted to disclose to a third party, or content illegal to possess or distribute). See Terms of Service Section 4 (Prohibited Content).
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including monitoring trigger conditions and executing distributions you configure.
- To send check-in emails, account notifications, and (if a trigger fires) distribution emails to your designated recipients.
- To process payments and manage your subscription.
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell, rent, lease or share your personal information or vault content in any way. We do not use your vault content (files/instructions) for advertising, model training, or any purpose other than delivering the Service you configured. Any content you store with us remains confidential, as does the fact that you have an account with us, outside of legal obligations.
4. Encryption & Security
We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest for stored vault content. AES-256 at rest, zero-knowledge client-side encryption, etc. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Sharing of Information
We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Designated recipients: when a trigger event you configured occurs, we distribute the specific content you designated to the specific recipients you designated, per your instructions.
- Service providers: vendors who help us operate the Service (hosting, email delivery, payment processing), bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
- Legal requirements: if required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of LazarusVault, our users, or the public.
- Business transfer: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to continued protection under a policy at least as protective as this one.
6. Payment Processing
Subscription payments are processed by PayPal or Stripe. Your financial information stays between you and PayPal or Stripe, we do not store your payment card number, nor do we have access to that information. Refer to your payment processor's own privacy policy for how they handle your payment data.
7. Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose;
- Request deletion of your personal information (subject to exceptions, e.g., information necessary to complete a pending distribution you configured, or required for legal compliance);
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising);
- Non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
To exercise these rights, contact us at admin@lazarusvault.com. We will verify your identity before processing requests. Note: deleting your account does not retroactively "un-send" a distribution that has already been triggered and sent prior to deletion.
8. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies for login sessions and security (CSRF protection). We do not currently use third-party advertising or tracking cookies but may in the future. If these are implemented, the required CCPA/GDPR disclosure and an opt-out mechanism will be made available.
9. Data Retention
We retain your account data and vault content for as long as your subscription is active, plus a limited grace period after cancellation or non-payment (see Terms of Service Section 7), after which content may be permanently deleted. We are not obligated to retain data beyond your paid subscription period, and you are solely responsible for maintaining an active subscription to keep your vault content and trigger configuration in effect.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us to request deletion.
11. International Users
The Service is hosted in the United States and intended for use by U.S. residents. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in the United States.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date, and, where required by law, we will provide additional notice (e.g., email) before changes take effect.
